BOOK CLUB hosted by The Library

The Library and the Student Union invite students and staff to join a book circle at Konstfack. This first time, we will read the book "On Earth We're Briefly Gorgeous" by Ocean Vuong.

In Konstfack's Book Club, we each read the same book individually over the course of a few weeks and then meet to talk about our shared reading experience. This is relaxed leisure reading of fiction and a conversation about literature that takes place alongside your studies—it is not something that is assessed.

Ocean Vuong is an American author born in Vietnam. After primarily writing poetry, his first novel "On Earth We're Briefly Gorgeous" was published in 2019.

The book - which was was selected through a vote earlier in March on the Student Union's Instagram account— is a letter from a son to his immigrant mother, who cannot read and therefore will never understand everything he longs to tell her.

How it works

Registration
If you would like to participate in the Book Club, please register by March 29 by emailing stefan.zachrisson@konstfack.se. Please state whether you would like to read the book in Swedish or English. Note: Limited space, first come, first served!

The book
All participants will receive a paperback copy of the book to keep. The book can be picked up at the desk in the Konstfack library during week 16 (13–17 April).

Reading
The book will be read during weeks 17–20 (20 April – 17 May).

Meeting
On Monday 18 May at 16:00, we will meet at the library to talk about the book we have read! We bring fika.
